One of the scenes by the new tv series Freud, recently added to Netflix catalogue, appears to have been influenced in its realization by Hermann Nitsch's famous performances.
The series, freely inspired by father of psychoanalysis Sigmund Freud, is produced by the Austrian network ORF in collaboration with the streaming platform Netflix and presented for the first time as worldwide preview during the 70th edition of the Berlin International Film Festival, the 24th of February 2020.
In the fifth episode there's a scene of a ritual that involves blood, nudity, and orgiastic frenzy which strongly refer to Nitsch's performances for the Theatre of Orgies and Mysteries. This proves further more how a controversial movement such as the Viennese Actionism, to which Nitsch belongs, has been absorbed and has established itself inside the cultural and artistic contemporary scenario.
