ALBERTINA MODERN - NEW VIENNA'S ART MUSEUM

Hermann Nitsch, Menstrual Pad Picture, 1964

The Künstlerhaus on Karlsplatz, a historical building in the center of Vienna constructed in 1865, is now the new Vienna's exhibition space dedicated to modern and contemporary art and home to the new Albertina Modern museum. A number of important Austrian and international artists are part of the museum collection including Hermann Nitsch, Andy Warhol, Cindy Sherman, Robert Rauschenberg.

The museum collection includes 60,000 artpieces by 5,000 different artists, however one of the museum's main goals is to focus on the Austrian artists in order to canonize them into international art history in the next few years and show the world how rich the Austrian art really is.
