Laboratorio Saccardi consists of Vincenzo Profeta (Palermo 1977), Marco Barone (Palermo 1978), Giuseppe Borgia (Palermo 1978), Toti Folisi (Sant’Agata di Militello, Messina, 1979), who express themselves “with different languages (from painting through to video, photography, visual poetry, and more) and with an openly playful and desecrating aim”.
Their work mainly revolves around two themes: derision of the star system in
the art world and derision of intellectuals. All this comes from an in-depth
knowledge of the history of art from which they draw infinite ideas, which they
then apply at random in their paintings or videos, without sparing anyone.
From Saint Jerome in the box to Beecroft shot in the legs, via the omnipresent
Picasso in a striped T-shirt, right through to Warhol wearing a white wig.
As well as being chameleon-like, they are also incredibly productive: their paintings are now countless and there is no stopping them. As Carmelo Bene said: “all’s well that never ends”..
